Harvest Festival 2016


We have something fun planned for every weekend of October— and even some weekdays. We hope you'll join us to celebrate the Fall and all upcoming holidays! So either take a look at the itinerary of fun events here, or print out your own copy!


SATURDAY OCTOBER 1ST

11:00-12:30 Apple Pie Contest  Take part in our mouth-watering contest and enter to see if your pie is the prize winner. Pie must be delivered by 10am on October 1st. Bring copies of your recipes if your willing to share it. Our prestigious judges include Michelin Award Winner Philippe Chevalier and our own Martie Visconti, former pastry chef and Victoria Alley our renowned home cook extraordinaire. 11:00-4:00 Apple Fishing  Kids can try their hand at catching apples from a barrel. 

1:00-3:00 Harmonics   Peter Best returns to start off our harvest fest with the beautiful music of his steel drum band. 


SUNDAY OCTOBER 2ND 

10:00-2:00 It’s Time to Order Your Fruit Trees!  Lloyd Cassidy from the LE Cooke Co. will help you select the perfect fruit trees for your garden, patio or deck. Order early and save 20%! 

11:00-12:00 Roses 2017  Orchard’s rose expert, Victoria Alley, presents what’s new for 2017, and offers helpful information on the care and cultivation of your roses. 

11:00-4:00 Apple Fishing  Kids can try their hand at catching apples from a barrel. 

2:00-4:00 The Killbillies  Everyone will enjoy their favorites with this great local rock band. 


TUESDAY OCTOBER 4TH 

10:30-12:30 Gayle Somers - Apples  The first of three presentations from local chef Gayle Somers of Home / Made Kitchen Cafe & Bakery in Moraga. She will be preparing her favorite seasonal recipes (along with a few recipes for our canine friends). Individual classes are $10 ea. and for all three it’s $21. Call for Chris or Randall for reservations at (925) 284-4474 as seating is limited. 

THURSDAY OCTOBER 6TH 

10:30-12:00 Pumpkins & Succulents - A Perfect Pair!  Meet Jill from our Lazy K House, and learn how to adorn a pumpkin with a variety of succulents. You will bring home a beautiful Harvest centerpiece. Cost is $50 per person. Call Chris for reservations as seating is limited (925) 284-4474. 


SATURDAY OCTOBER 8TH 

10:00-11:30 Irrigation Efficiency  Seth Wright joins us to talk about irrigation systems and how we can all have thriving gardens without wasting water. 

10:00-2:00 Amphora Nueva Amphora Nueva features the largest, freshest selection of single varietal extra virgin olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars on tap. Family owned & operated, they have had a presence in the olive oil industry for the past 90 years. Stop by for a taste of these delicious “must-have” kitchen essentials. 

2:00-4:00 Tunes for a Saturday Afternoon Dave Schroeder returns to entertain us with his guitar repertoire. 


SUNDAY OCTOBER 9TH 

11:00-12:30 Small Package, Big Reward  Our very own Libbey McKendry discusses the culture and planting of spring blooming bulbs. Shop now for best selection and enjoy the rewards of an early spring garden. 

1:00-3:00 Grown to Perfection - Hollie’s Homegrown  Hollie specializes in growing culinary herbs, herbal teas, and medicinal herbs for bath & body products in her Moraga garden. You can feel confident everything from Hollie’s Homegrown is safe and healthy for you and the environment. Drop by and sample these local treats. 

2:00-4:00 Get Jazzy With It!  The Tim Campbell/Jeff Massanari Jazz Duo will fill the harvest afternoon with music. 


TUESDAY OCTOBER 11TH

10:30-12:30 Wellness Into Winter  Certified Nutrition Consultant, Margie Lillich shares tips on keeping your vitality through the holidays and beyond. Health and harmony go hand and hand. Learn from an expert! 


SATURDAY OCTOBER 15TH 

10:00-11:00 Thrillers, Chillers & Spillers for Fall  Shawna, from our Custom Container department teaches you how to make creative mixed containers for your garden, porch or patio. 

11:00-1:00 Smooth Saturday Afternoon Jazz
Malcolm & Camille return for an encore performance. 

11:00-4:00 Pumpkin Fishing  Kids can try their hand at catching pumpkins from a barrel. 

1:00-2:00 Get Your Chill On  Meet staff members Shannon, Becky and Chris and get great recipes for seasonal ice creams. Tasting included! 

2:00-4:00 Ukulele for Everyone  Meet the Ladies Ukestra and enjoy an afternoon of musical delight. 


SUNDAY OCTOBER 16TH

11:00-12:30 Succulents and Cacti ‘How-To’s’ Our own specialist, Matthew Meadows, teaches you about selecting and growing the right plant for your purposes. 

11:00-4:00 Pumpkin Fishing  Kids can try their hand at catching mini-pumpkins from a barrel. 

1:00-3:00 Guitar Classics  Solo artist, Glenn Staller, performs a selection of Classical, Brazilian, Flamenco, Jazz, and more. 


WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 19TH 

10:30-12:30 Gayle Somers - Pumpkins & Squash  The last of three presentations from local chef Gayle Somers of Home / Made Kitchen Cafe & Bakery in Moraga. She will be preparing her favorite seasonal recipes (including treats for your canine). Class cost $10.00. Call for Chris or Randall for reservations at (925) 284-4474 as seating is limited. 

10:30-11:30 Toddler Art Class  Open to kids ages 18 months - 5 years. Join Cutout Studios Julia Linsteadt as she leads your children through a creative art project. $18 per child. Reservations required as seating is limited. Please call (925) 284-4474.

10:00-12:30 Come ‘Jam’ With Us  Award winning chef, Tom Wright, teaches canning and preserving techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, Tom is sure to broaden your skills with his expert advice and helpful “how-to’s”. 

10:00-3:00 Erickson Ranch Preserves  â€œWhere fresh is a destination!” A variety of delicious locally grown and handmade jams and preserves reminiscent of our childhoods. Stop by and visit with Ray and Victoria and taste what ‘real produce’ tastes like. 

11:00-1:00 Harpist RenĂ©e Roberge  Her beautiful music will delight you while you enjoy our Christmas Open House. 

1:00-3:00 ‘The Blue Moon Brothers’  This Bluegrass band never fails to deliver! 


SUNDAY OCTOBER 23RD 

11:00-3:00 Erickson Ranch Preserves  â€œWhere fresh is a destination!” A variety of delicious locally grown and handmade jams and preserves reminiscent of our childhoods. Stop by and visit with Ray and Victoria and taste what ‘real produce’ tastes like. 

11:00-12:30 Let’s Get Cookin’!  Lesley Stiles runs a thriving catering business using only local foods, making everything by hand. Join her and be inspired to grow and make your own preserves. 


SATURDAY OCTOBER 29TH 

11:00-1:00 The Spirit of ’29 Jazz Band  Come and enjoy one the area’s best Dixieland style jazz bands. These guys will definitely keep your toes tappin’! 

1:00-3:00 Tillandsia’s Upon a Pumpkin  Join Laura & Alison in this hands-on workshop and create a fanciful reminder of autumn that will last throughout the season. $65.00 per person. Reservations required as seating is limited. Call our Florist at 925-284-4474 to reserve your space today! 

3:00-5:00 Live! ‘A Party Of Three’  Enjoy our friend, Jack Pollard and Company, as they perform the standards and all your R&B favorites. 


SUNDAY OCTOBER 30TH

11:00-3:00 Put On A Happy Face  Our friends from The Painted Wonderland will be here to delight kids of all ages with their clever and creative face painting. 

1:00-3:00 â€˜Insect Songs’ Sing-A-Long  Voted “Best Interactive Kids Program” by Diablo Magazine, the charming and inventive Sandi & Stevie lead the children in silly song and dance play.
